Friends,

It’s with tremendous sadness that I share news of Thea Roelofsen’s passing. You might remember that her mother, Lesley Roelofsen, stepped away from her alumnae district director responsibilities in late summer 2016 when young Thea fell ill with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. Lesley and Patrick made sure to pack as much living as possible into this past year for their young family.  If you had the good fortune of following the family’s inspiring journey via Facebook, you know what a special family they are, and what joy Thea brought to everyone around her. 

In times of despair and geographic distance, one often looks for something to DO. As we did for the Kates family, I suggest flooding the Roelofsen family mailbox with cards and letters.  Their mailing address is Lesley, Patrick, and Brynn Roelofsen, 69 Cranarch Court SE, Calgary, Alberta, Canada T3M 0S6.

As well, if you’re so inclined, a gift to the Friendship Fund honoring Lesley’s courage and perseverance might be in order. The Fund has provided gifts to Thetas experiencing extreme financial hardship due to serious or terminal illness, job loss, natural disaster, and other devastating occurrences. Donations, which are not tax-deductible, may be mailed directly to Kappa Alpha Theta Headquarters.
