Grand Council Nominating Committee Action

Alumnae and college districts have not aligned since 2012. For the past 12 years, to allow for the election of one delegate from each district to serve on the nominating committee as prescribed by the Constitution and Bylaws, Grand Council has had to use its discretion to assign different district boundaries to organize college and alumnae chapters so that district meetings could be held. To formalize this process, at their meeting on Feb. 3, Grand Council amended Kappa Alpha Theta Bylaws, Article III, Section 1, D, 1, to read:

D. Nomination and Elections

            1. Nominating Committee

The nominating committee shall consist of a chair, a vice chair, and one (1) member elected by and from the delegates of each district of the Fraternity. If the districts of the Fraternity are organized such that the college districts and alumnae districts are not coterminous, Grand Council may designate different districts for this purpose.

Considering the ideal size for a working committee is five to seven, Grand Council designated the following districts for the purpose of electing nominating committee representatives. This change has been reflected in the updated Constitution and Bylaws, posted in Theta Portal.

ThetaConnect Mentoring Month

Mentoring Month on ThetaConnect was a success! Thank you to all who participated in ThetaConnect mentoring. We appreciate your support and dedication not only to the ThetaConnect platform but to our members!

During Mentoring Month (January 2024), ThetaConnect saw the following:

• 296 users joined (22.3% increase since January 2023, and a 129.5% increase since December 2023)
• 160 jobs were posted (166.66% increase since January 2023 and 131.9% increase since December 2023)
• 184 private messages were sent between members (over 2 times more than December 2023)
• 323 posts were “liked” (over 2 times more than December 2023)
• 181 times an item in the Resources area was accessed (74 more than December 2023)
• 419 profile edits were made (263 more than December 2023)
