Workforce Updates
At its meeting last week, Grand Council appointed Linda Nguyen Bollinger, Eta Lambda/Santa Clara, as college district director (CDD) in College District XIV. Linda will replace Jillian Kyde who will transition Linda into her new volunteer role.
Jennifer Hulett is retiring as budget district director (BDD) in College District IX. Mary Katherine Curvino, Zeta Omicron/Wake Forest, has been appointed, and Jennifer will help with the transition.
Christine McDonald, Psi/Wisconsin, has been appointed as recruitment and Panhellenic district director (RPDD) of College District V. Christine will transition from College District VII to College District V in the coming weeks. During the transition period, Margaret Burke and Cate Bibb will be assisting in College District VII.
Tory Freese Verkamp, Alpha Mu/Missouri, has been appointed as RPDD in College District XI. Tory will replace Sara Barnard, Alpha Phi/Tulane, who has now been appointed as recruitment specialist on the recruitment committee. In the coming weeks, Sara will transition from her RPDD role to her new role of providing specialized recruitment support to college chapters identified as needing targeted support regarding recruitment preparation, planning, and execution.
Regina Collins Simon has resigned as member development specialist on the college committee. We thank Regina for her years of Theta service and her work on the committee.
Workforce Resources
Did you know that 31 ELC visit reports have already been published this term? As a workforce volunteer, you have access to the internal ELC visit reports. These reports are organized by college district, chapter name, and year of report. They differ from the external visit report (sent to the college chapter officers) which are strategically written in a more positive and constructive tone. The internal report allows ELCs the opportunity to directly address any issues that need staff and/or workforce follow-up. (Please note that Update recipients who are not currently in the workforce cannot access these reports.)
You may notice the “FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY” disclaimer at the top of each page. The information contained in the report is to be used only for the purpose for which it is intended and may contain confidential and/or privileged material. Any officers using the information outside of the scope of their volunteer responsibilities may be subject to discipline. What does that mean? It serves as a friendly reminder that as a member of the workforce, you are privy to sensitive information.
Extension Opportunity
Lindsey Sell, director of extension, is thrilled to share that Kappa Alpha Theta is one of three NPC groups selected to make a formal extension presentation at Sacred Heart University (SHU). SHU is the second-largest Catholic university in New England and is located in Fairfield, CT. The campus currently has eight NPC groups, and a new NPC group will join their Greek community in fall 2017. Presentations will be scheduled during the week of March 13 with a final selection later this spring. Thank you for Thinking Theta!
Officer Portal (OP) Service Interruption
We will be performing required maintenance on our servers on Saturday, Feb. 25, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. At that time the Officer Portal will be down for approximately three hours. Thank you for your patience.
Theta Magazine Survey
To aid us in building a multi-year content and design strategy for the Theta magazine, we will distribute in the next few days a short survey to all alumnae for whom we have a good email address. The message will be sent on Fraternity electronic letterhead from “Kappa Alpha Theta,” so we hope no recipients will be concerned about its legitimacy. If you receive any questions regarding the survey, please direct them to Liz Rinck, director of communications.
Theta Foundation
Celebrate NPC’s Month of the Scholar by sharing information about Theta Foundation’s scholarship opportunities, including Pansy Patch Scholarships for college members of designated chapters. Interested applicants can review Theta Foundation’s 2017 Scholarship Application resources.
Birthday Celebration
Longtime Fraternity volunteer, Lou Simpson, is celebrating her 90th birthday on March 1! Please participate in a card shower for Lou by sending cards directly to her at 1190 S. Bates Street, Birmingham, MI 48009. Feel free to spread the word so others can join in the fun!
