Inside Higher Ed published an overview of the state of the admission cycle for institutions coming out of the pandemic. The enrollment picture for most regional public colleges is looking less promising than in previous years, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and overall decline in applications. This seems to be the case for most smaller colleges, especially in states facing population outflow. More well-known institutions and states with population growth are faring fine.
Pennsylvania State University issued a news release regarding the inaugural report on fraternity and sorority organizations from the Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research and Reform. The first National Fraternity and Sorority Scorecard (NFSS) aggregates data from 72 U.S. institutions and includes information about grades, philanthropic activity, and organizational conduct in spring 2019.
In April, Real Clear Education published its "College Greek Life Report Card: A Survey of Greek-Letter Organizations Assessing Freedom of Association and Speech at U.S. Colleges and Universities." The organization is now working on a series of reports regarding the findings of the survey, including a recently published article containing their analysis of a California lawsuit between fraternity and sorority members and the University of Southern California that highlights an array of ‘free association’ concerns. While the lawsuit ended in 2020, the article attempts to draw connections between the lawsuit and whether it influenced survey findings.

The Cross-Cultural Fraternal Access and Inclusion (CCFAI) group and Kappa Kappa Gamma worked together to create webinars on diversity, equity, and inclusion for volunteers and staff working with NPC sororities. Many Theta volunteers have asked for additional training related to DEI. These sessions, while teaching broad DEI concepts, utilize NPC sororities in examples. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas after viewing these webinars, which are all linked below.
We are in need of outstanding volunteers to name in our High Five Friday social media feature. We want to offer a very special thank you to YOU for all of the work you do on behalf of Kappa Alpha Theta.
