Three students at Yale University have filed a class action lawsuit against the university and its fraternities alleging discrimination on the basis of sex, NBC Connecticut reported. The lawsuit also “alleges a hostile environment in terms of sexual misconduct and sexual harassment.” While the university’s fraternities are off campus, the lawsuit calls upon Yale to hold these organizations more accountable for their behavior.
The Gamma Iota Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at Louisiana State University (LSU) is closed until May 2023 following allegations of hazing, according to WBRZ. The closure comes after an extended interim suspension that began in the fall and is a result of LSU police filing of misdemeanor charges against three members. If Pi Kappa Phi wants to return to LSU in 2023, members will have to follow a series of requirements, according to the May 17 letter from LSU administrators to chapter members. The story received wide coverage, including WAFB and Fox News.
