As part of Theta’s commitment to proactive thinking, we are committed to the use of enterprise risk management (ERM), a process that is applied to help identify potential events that could affect Kappa Alpha Theta, manage those risks, and ensure we can achieve our strategic objectives. By taking a complete viewpoint on risk and creating a risk-focused culture, Theta is in a strong position to efficiently use resources. Grand Council appoints an ERM committee, which includes representation from the Fraternity, Foundation, and FHC boards, to consider potential risks to the enterprise (Kappa Alpha Theta as a whole) and each entity. When risks are identified and defined, staff members and volunteers develop and manage mitigation plans to help us assign, transfer, reduce, or eliminate risk.
A key part of ERM is regular progress checks to ensure the risks are defined appropriately and that due consideration is given to the severity and likelihood of each risk. Part of this entails regularly surveying all stakeholders about the risks, considering likelihood and severity, to help Theta appropriately allocate resources. Over the next couple weeks, all workforce and staff will receive a survey regarding identified risks. We ask that you take the time to share your thoughts, ranking the risks appropriately to guide the next phases of this work, and to provide feedback on the risk definitions or additional topics that should be considered by the ERM committee.
Clarity in identifying the risks ahead will provide Grand Council with important data to consider while developing the new Plan of Aspirations. It has been said that risk management is not an end, but a means to an end—the end being accomplishment of the organization’s mission. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration and input, allowing us all to accomplish the great things that lie ahead for Kappa Alpha Theta.

Theta women are at their best when their Theta sisters, families, and friends encourage their dreams and ambitions. Theta’s greatest strength comes not from any individual supporter, but from what we can accomplish when we work together. In celebration of what we have done—and will continue to do—together, Theta Foundation is excited to launch the Theta Forever Fund on Nov. 27, 2018, on #GivingTuesday. We can’t wait for you to see what’s in store and learn how you can make an impact.
Every unrestricted donation to the Theta Forever Fund supports the educational, leadership, and philanthropic programs that help all Thetas become their best selves. Your investment is an outward sign of your commitment, appreciation, and ongoing belief that Kappa Alpha Theta is truly forever. Throughout the day we’ll announce other ways that Theta alumnae are stepping up to help you make a difference. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter so you don’t miss the chance to maximize your impact. Thanks in advance for your support!
Our newest alumnae group is the Frederick, MD Alumnae Circle. We now have 222 alumnae groups (chapters and circles).
