Theta Pi Installation

The Theta Pi Chapter at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. was installed on Nov. 18, making it Kappa Alpha Theta's 185th college chapter. Thank you to the team members who volunteered their time to make this weekend so special for our 102 newest Thetas!

Office Holiday Closing

Kappa Alpha Theta headquarters will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 22, through Friday, Nov. 24, for Thanksgiving.

Sisters Supporting Sisters – Responding to Chapters

This has been a traumatic start to the academic year for many of our members and chapters. Melissa Shaub, director of education & leadership, has been fielding emails and calls about campus deaths, suicide attempts, as well as inter/national events including hurricanes, earthquakes, hate crimes, and gun violence. This is all in addition to the stress of both academic and personal life. It’s a lot for all of us. We do respond to chapters when they are faced with such an incident. Here is an overview of our general response, knowing that we do individualize based on each particular chapter’s needs.

• An email is drafted and sent to each undergraduate chapter member expressing our support and linking to both Theta and campus resources.
• An email is sent to the entire advisory board which includes additional resource links and a copy of the message being sent to students.
• As needed, additional phone calls, meetings, or visits are scheduled to provide necessary support for the chapter.
• Meetings, deadlines, or requirements are adjusted based on the needs of the chapter.
• We continue to follow-up with chapters in the subsequent months to ensure ongoing access to resources.

• Make a donation on Tuesday, Nov. 28! Even a small amount goes a long way toward helping us reach our goal and showing the power of 200,000 leading women coming together to lift each other higher.

Day of Service Photo Contest: Thank you so much to all the college chapters, alumnae chapters, and individual members who have entered the Day of Service Photo Contest! We received some truly inspirational entries this year. We will select and announce a winner for the 2017 Day of Service Photo Contest tomorrow.
