Several schools hosted anti-hazing programming in recognition of National Hazing Prevention Week, Sept. 23 – 27. The Reveille reported that LSU Greek Life hosted programming that included the parents of Max Gruver, a fraternity new member at Louisiana State University who died from hazing in 2017, and the mother of Timothy Piazza, who died on his first night of pledging at Penn State in 2017. Evelyn Piazza also spoke at Kansas State. Emory, Auburn, Eastern Carolina, Radford, and other universities also held programming that garnered coverage.
The annual volunteer survey is live at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2019VolAudit until 11:59 p.m. (EDT) tonight (Oct. 8). We are only surveying the workforce this year and we really need your feedback. It’s been brought to our attention that a “score” is shown once you complete the survey, but you are certainly not being scored! This is the result of the survey format in Survey Monkey and is completely irrelevant. Questions can be directed to Assistant Director of Alumnae Engagement Laura Stelsel.
Therefore, you can refer to Theta Portal > chapter portal when sending officers or members to find training or documentation and ChapterSpot when sending them to customer support. We will review all documentation that currently says “ChapterSpot” and work on changing those references to chapter portal. College handbooks will be changed for the spring semester. Thank you in advance for helping to model these best practices for our members!
Please join Recruitment Committee Chairman Kara Van Duzee and committee members in welcoming Jocelyn Nicotero, Lambda/Vermont, as recruitment and Panhellenic district director (RPDD) in College District II. Jocelyn replaces Madison Cannon who recently joined Theta staff.
Laura Locke, college committee chairman, is pleased to share that Kristine Wix, college district director (CDD) in College District VII, has a daughter in the new member class at Beta Nu/Florida State! To avoid any potential conflict of interest, Katie Schmitz, CDD in College District V, has graciously agreed to serve as CDD for Beta Nu Chapter. The assignments for the other district directors in College District VII have not changed, and Kristine will continue to serve as CDD for the rest of that district.
The deadline for Q2 Theta Foundation Chapter & Individual Grant applications is Wednesday, Oct. 16. Learn more on Theta’s website, and direct any questions to Foundation Programs Manager Mary Kate Smith.
