In December 2019, 13 college chapters participated in an MDC pilot program with the aim of increasing informal peer accountability. This program provided college chapters with the option to address member concerns through a one-on-one meeting, as opposed to in front of the full MDC.
The program was wildly successful, with participating college chapters reporting an increase in overall meeting effectiveness and a more positive perspective of MDC within their chapter. This program is now available to all college chapters. MDC members will be trained on the CARE model which is used to create constructive, accountable, respectful, and empowering conversations, leading to heightened awareness of actions and a deeper care for one another. The new materials are in Theta Portal > chapter portal > HQDocs > Development Resources > MDC Member-to-Member Toolkit, and they include the following resources.
If officers or chapters you work with contact you with questions about the program, feel free to direct them to Emma Silvers, assistant director of collegiate services. Chapters are welcome to begin using the member-to-member format after reviewing the program toolkit.
