On NPR’s Morning Edition, reporter Lakshmi Singh interviewed a sociologist from the University of Connecticut, a student at Cal Poly, and a law professor from Syracuse University about the intersection of race and fraternities in light of recent racist incidents and charges of sexual harassment.

In Louisiana, The Advocate offered reporting on the Max Gruver Act, which has been approved by the state legislature and is now set to become law, pending signature by the Louisiana Governor.

Kappa Alpha Theta headquarters will be closed on Friday, May 25, and Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day.

Justine Rosenberg Thomas, Epsilon Sigma/UC Irvine, will be joining the Foundation team as director of advancement on June 25. Many of you may remember Justine from her amazing work on the Give to Lead, Give to Learn Campaign. During her time away from Theta, Justine served as director of major gifts and planned giving at The Key School in Maryland where she played a vital role in advancing the school’s philanthropic and stewardship efforts. She raised over $1.5 million for the school’s facilities, over $11 million for the 2020 Vision Campaign (exceeeding the campaign’s goal by $1 million three years early!), and oversaw the school’s largest single-day of giving in its history ($112,000). We are pleased to welcome Justine back to Kappa Alpha Theta!

Jordan Qaddourah, Delta Kappa/LSU, has been hired as a marketing coordinator. Jordan traveled for Theta as an educational leadership consultant (ELC) during the 2017-18 school year and will begin her new role at HQ on July 9.

2018 Theta Foundation Scholarship Award Acceptance

All recipients preliminarily selected for a 2018 Theta Foundation scholarship must complete the acceptance process by 11:59 p.m. EDT, Thursday, May 31. Recipients who do not submit required documentation by the deadline will forfeit their awards. Alternate recipients selected for forfeited scholarships will be notified on June 1, via the email address on their Fraternity records.
