Spring is budget season, and this spring is no exception. Despite the financial disaster facing Kappa Alpha Theta, we do have budgets to prepare. Grand Council will consider a very lean Fraternity budget at its meeting on May 8. That budget is based on 25% fewer collegians returning to school in the fall and 25% fewer new members recruited. Of course, the budget will be adjusted when those forecasts are adjusted to actuals. Despite deep cuts to programs, travel, and the grandest sesquicentennial celebration ever, we are left with a $1M deficit.
Staff leadership is taking steps to manage that enormous shortfall. In addition to a freeze on hiring, salary increases will be eliminated for the 2020 – 2021 fiscal year. Even with these steps, a large deficit remains. We will continue our work toward a balanced budget for the May 8 meeting. In the weeks and months that follow an approved budget, adjustments to programs and services will be announced as appropriate.

Thank you for all YOU do for Theta, especially during these challenging times.
