Year-End and Expense Reports
The Fraternity’s 2016-17 fiscal year ends June 30. Because some of your expenses may be for the 2016-17 fiscal year, please note on your submitted expenses if they are for the 2016-17 or 2017-18 fiscal year.
2016-17 expenses will be accepted until, but no later than, July 31. No…
I don’t have much of an Amy update this weekend. Unfortunately, she was not strong enough to leave ICU last week. So, she’s staying put for the time being.
THANK YOU for flooding the Kates family mailbox* with good cheer! Andy, Maggie, and Sam are overwhelmed by the reach of Amy’s fan club! They do know how VERY much we all want to help them during this trying time. But, there is really nothing to be done right now. I’ve been assured that when the time is right, the family will reach out. In…
At its meeting earlier today, Grand Council took the following action:
Approved a loan to the Fraternity Housing Corporation to fund construction of the Theta Theta house at North Carolina State;
Approved the move of Beta Mu/Nevada to the FHC; and
Approved the 2017 – 2018 Fraternity budget.
More importantly, the following news was shared:
Please keep the Kates family in your prayers. Amy's husband, Andy, has been diagnosed with ALS. This is a very recent development, so Amy…
Volunteer Recognition
Check out this month’s Volunteer Spotlight featuring workforce member Beth Dickinson, Delta Theta/Florida, who serves as alumnae district director in Alumnae District IV and event coordinator for the NC Triangle Alumnae Chapter. She has served Theta as a volunteer for 16 years. Thank you for everything you do for Theta, Beth!
“I get so much out of my continued involvement with Theta! ... I had a great time during college, but the relationships I have built as an alumna…
Announced with Grand Council action earlier this week, this Amy Update now has its own space on the Theta News channel. Updates to Theta Workforce can be found here.

Please keep the Kates family in your prayers. Amy's husband, Andy, has been diagnosed with ALS. This is a very recent development, so Amy and Andy still have far more questions than answers, but as you might imagine, they are determined to get Andy the absolute best care possible.
Amy has taken a temporary leave from her Theta responsibilities while she digests this news and determines the new normal for her family. Michelle Geiger, 1st Alternate NPC Delegate, has assumed…
As Tropical Storm Cindy gains strength in the Gulf of Mexico, so it seems that Amy does, too! Doctors hope to move her from the intensive care unit today or tomorrow. While it was a heart attack that landed her in the hospital, she’ll move to the neurology unit, and not cardiac care. This news brings with it lots of questions to which I simply have no answers. I promise to share information as it becomes available.
As always, thanks for your support of the Kates family.
Revised Ritual Book is Now Available
An updated edition of the Ritual Book is now available online and in the OP (Officer Portal) Document Library under Manuals. This version is streamlined with new clear diagrams illustrating service set-up and performance. Several services that were in the previous version are now located in more logical places.
- The Ceremony Honoring Retiring Grand Council Members and the Installation of Grand Council and Transfer of Badges are now available to Grand…
Theta Foundation
After four years in the role of Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation executive director, Kristen Kaiser will leave the organization in June. She has resigned to leave the workforce and spend time with her young family.
Foundation President Mary Ellen Fitzsimonds wished Kristen the very best for the future and thanked her for her many contributions to Kappa Alpha Theta. “While we understand and support Kristen’s decision, we can’t help but feel sad about her departure. Kristen was…
I hadn't planned to write today since there is no change to report. In addition to your prayers of support and healing, I encourage you to continue the flood of cards to that little mail box at 921 Fern Street. Many of us feel helpless wanting to DO something for Andy, Maggie, and Sam. An overflowing mailbox of love and encouragement is a tangible reminder to the family how very much Amy is loved and admired. They know through the years Amy has touched so many across the continent. Now,…
